Long Term Vision
Our Long-Term Vision sets out our future direction as an organisation. It represents the beginning of a new journey, but our mission remains the same: Working Together for a Safer Scotland.
Our Long-Term Vision sets out our future direction as an organisation. It represents the beginning of a new journey, but our mission remains the same: Working Together for a Safer Scotland.
We have carried out significant engagement with staff, stakeholders and communities. In the second half of 2020 we undertook 15 independently facilitated workshops with 150 frontline staff, a digital staff survey and on-station discussions across Scotland. We received over 800 responses, an analysis of which was outlined in a report considered by the Board and Strategic Leadership Team in February 2021.
Following these sessions, we ran a public consultation with individuals, stakeholders and communities during the summer of 2021. We asked for their views on the draft document and the responses have helped to create the final Vision, which was approved by the Board and will shape our three Strategic Plans over the next decade, starting with 2022-25.
At the heart of any successful organisation is a clear understanding of why it exists and what it stands for. Throughout our engagement it’s clear that our key purpose of preserving life needs to remain at the core of what we do and we will never lose sight of that.
But what was also clear is that our staff and stakeholders believe the Service should change and evolve particularly to do more in our local communities.
Overwhelmingly staff felt that service provision should vary according to local needs and that local senior officers should work with local stations and communities to identify those needs and make the changes needed to address them.
We created our vision in partnership with our employees, our partners and the public – and will continue to work together collaboratively with our stakeholders to achieve it.
