Long-term dormant stations without employees

The following recommendations have now been approved by the SFRS Board. 

• Proceed to close the long-term dormant station at Crianlarich (Stirlingshire)

• Proceed to close the long-term dormant station on the isle of Fetlar (Shetland)

• Proceed to close the long-term dormant station at Nethy Bridge (Highland)

• Proceed to close the long-term dormant station at Ratagan (Highland)

• Proceed to close the long-term dormant station on the Isle of Muck (Highland)

Long-term dormant stations with employees

The SFRS Board previously approved the commencement of a staff redundancy consultation process to inform a final decision on the following three long-term dormant stations: 

• Colintraive (Argyll and Bute) 
• Kerrera (Argyll and Bute) 
• Corriecravie (Isle of Arran, North Ayrshire) 

That process has now concluded and the recommendation is being made to close these stations. This recommendation will be considered in detail by the SFRS Board at its meeting on 24 September 2026.
