The Museum of Scottish Fire Heritage, located at McDonald Road Community Fire Station in Edinburgh, received a 5-star rating, for its high-standard quality.

On the other hand, the Scottish Fire Brigades Heritage Trust Museum and Heritage Centre in Greenock received a 4-star rating, which has been maintained since it opened in 2012.

These prestigious national tourism awards recognise the high-quality visitor experiences provided by both museums and offer an enjoyable and free visitor experience with a range of events and new displays.

Assistant Chief Officer David Lockhart is the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service’s (SFRS) Director of Prevention, Protection and Preparedness. He said:

The awards are a great recognition for both museums and the teams who have worked to create them.

“As well as being an outstanding achievement, the Visit Scotland awards are a great advertisement for the museums.

“We want to promote the museums to the public and to everyone within the Service. If you haven’t been to visit yet, stop by soon. If you’ve been before, check the museum websites for new events and come back for more.”
