Request SFRS assets

Under Part 5 of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015, a Community Transfer Body can ask a relevant authority to transfer the use of property where it believes it can deliver greater community benefit through its use.

Community Transfer Bodies can apply to:

  • Purchase land or property
  • Lease land or property
  • Obtain other rights over land

Under the Act, "land" includes land, buildings, or other structures that are owned or leased by a relevant authority.

Available SFRS assets

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service owns or leases most of the buildings, facilities and property used to support its operational activities.

How applications are assessed

SFRS Board approval is required.

We will consider all asset transfer requests.

Where the Property Department recommends an asset transfer request, the recommendation will be submitted to the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Board for approval.

Contact Property Services as early as possible.

If your Community Transfer Body is considering an asset transfer request, we recommend contacting the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) Property Services as early as possible to discuss your proposal.

Asset transfer requests should be submitted to the Estates Manager at the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
