Statement from SFRS on the Bicester Motion incident in Oxfordshire

Stuart Stevens is the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service’s Chief Officer.

He said: “We were devastated to learn that two firefighters and a member of the public have lost their lives during the tragic incident in Bicester in Oxfordshire, on Thursday, 15 May.

“Our thoughts are also with the two firefighters who remain in hospital with serious injuries.

“Firefighters across the UK put their own wellbeing aside to protect communities every day - today is a reminder of that bravery and sacrifice.

“We send our deepest condolences to our colleagues and the friends and families of all of those involved.”

SFRS staff across Scotland earlier today observed a two-minute silence and all SFRS buildings will fly the Union Flag at half mast, where possible.
