Crews are supporting local charity Spirit Aid’s festive appeal. The charity’s aim is to collect donations which will be delivered across local communities to ensure that children don’t miss out on a visit and a surprise parcel from Santa.

All of Glasgow’s 11 stations will be drop off points for donations of new, unwrapped toys, which will then be distributed directly to families.

Station Commander Graeme Morrow said: “We’re calling on the generosity of the public to support our cause and help to bring some light and hope during this festive season.

“We are committed to helping tackle poverty across Glasgow and strong communities are built when we look out for one another. By working with Spirit Aid, we aim to ensure children experience the joy every child deserves.”

Spirit Aid’s Patrick Rolink said: “Spirit Aid are delighted to have the practical support from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service in our efforts to give children living in poverty a good Christmas. We are delighted to enjoy this partnership, and we are confident that this will benefit many in our communities. We also acknowledge the generosity of the people of Glasgow and welcome this additional resource to enable their continued support.”
