Falkirk Community Fire Station has recently welcomed the £650,000 Rosenbauer aerial ladder platform, which will enable firefighters to fight fires and perform rescue operations at height, along with dealing with other types of emergency.
David Lockhart is the SFRS Local Senior Officer for Falkirk and West Lothian.
He said: "This appliance allows our firefighters to fight fires and perform specialist rescue operations at heights of up to 32 metres.
"We are delighted to welcome this state-of-the-art appliance to Falkirk Community Fire Station.
"This is a very welcome addition to our existing fleet and enhances our response to emergencies, as we continue to protect the people of Falkirk and the surrounding area.”
The arrival of the high reach appliance follows investment by the SFRS in a Rapid Response Unit (RRU) which is based at Denny Community Fire Station.
The RRU is fitted with the latest firefighting technology in the form of a high pressure lance, which enables firefighters to fight fires within buildings from outside.
LSO Lockhart continued: "The investment in these new appliances is very welcome and reaffirms the commitment of SFRS to the safety of firefighters and our communities.”
