DYNAMIC Scottish Fire and Rescue Service duo have been helping to deliver essential groceries and supplies to people who are shielding in East Renfrewshire.

Fire Safety Auditing Officer Peter Wright and Community Firefighter Paul Lavery have been assisting partners and the community in Barrhead and surrounding areas.

The pair have helped to deliver dozens of packages including essential groceries and prescriptions to residents who are shielding or vulnerable.

Peter and Paul are assisting as part of a national partnership programme, which sees SFRS staff working alongside local authorities and other organisations in lockdown to ensure communities are supplied.

Peter said: “We’ve been very keen to start assisting or partners and colleagues around the area.

“We’ve all seen our normal day-to-day work impacted by the pandemic, and this was one way that we could make sure that we continue to help communities in any way we can.

“It’s been particularly good to be able to have a chat with people who are elderly or shielding, and they obviously haven’t seen or spoken to anyone in a while."
