James Scott awarded the Good Neighbour award at the recent ceremony

Local Senior Officer James Scott was this week delighted to help recognise those who assist their communities.

He presented the Good Neighbour Award to Frances Carson for helping her friends and neighbour at times of need.

The award is sponsored by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and was received by Frances at the Cream of Ayrshire awards on Thursday, October 5.

LSO Scott spoke afterwards about the efforts of Frances who regularly visits elderly neighbours.

She also manages a local community group and arranges local community fun and gala days.

The Ayrshire fire chief said: “I was very privileged to present this award to such a worthy winner.

“The efforts of Frances are nothing short of exceptional – she helps and looks after so many members of the Ayrshire community and I’m very pleased she has got the recognition for this.

“The Good Neighbour Award is a fantastic way to show how people can contribute to their community and help look after its vulnerable members – we are very proud to sponsor such an important award.”

The SFRS is also keen to support the most vulnerable members to live safely at home.
