Firefighters called to attend road traffic collision on A82 near Drumnadrochit

Three Inverness appliances were joined by one from Drumnadrochit to respond to a collision between a car and a motorcycle

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) was called to the scene of a two vehicle road traffic collision on the A82, two miles south of Drumnadrochit this morning (31 August 2016).

The incident involving a motorcycle and a car was reported to operations control at 11.09am and three Inverness crews, including the heavy rescue vehicle, were joined by a crew from Drumnadrochit.

When firefighters arrived they discovered the motorcyclist had ended up down an embankment. Using ropes and utilising their working at height skills the crews reached the casualty and extricated them to safety.

Police, ambulance and the Stornoway Coastguard helicopter were also present. The motorcyclist was placed in the care of the coastguard helicopter crew before being airlifted to hospital.

Crews made the scene safe and assisted with the clean-up operation. The last appliance left the scene at 1.37pm.
