Operations Control

The first point of contact when you dial 999 to report an emergency.

What is Operations Control?

Operations Control is our primary communications hub.

A firefighter control is the first point of contact when you dial 999 to report an emergency.

We have three Operations Control rooms where our firefighters control work from:

  • Dundee
  • Edinburgh
  • Johnstone

We are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This means member of the team must be prepared to work days, nights, weekends, and on public holidays.

Firefighters control provide potentially lifesaving advice to callers. They also use the information provided and take action to facilitate the successful and safe conclusion of incidents.

We cover Scotland and deal with many incidents and risks, including:

  • industrial premises
  • airports
  • rivers
  • oil refineries
  • heritage buildings
  • docks
  • high rise buildings
  • motorways
  • lakes
  • windfarms
  • rural villages and towns
