A firefighter is helping to inspire young athletes self isolating during COVID-19.

Group Commander Scott Gibson helps to coach female football side Forfar Farmington Under-14s.

The dad-of-two has developed a series of online challenges his side can take on from home while football remains on the back-burner across the country.

The latest challenge tasked the young squad to perform keepie-ups with a toilet roll.

Similar challenges have gone viral across social media in recent weeks.

The social media quest is helping to keep the young team active and engaged during national lock down.

Scott said: "The girls have been together since under-nines level and are gutted not to be playing.

"The idea was to set them a challenge every week to keep them going while they're not able to play.

"We had seen the keepie-up challenge on social media and thought it would be a good one to try.

"We've used circuit classes as well to keep the girls active and will keep thinking of some new ways to keep them engaged."

The Group Commander added: "Everyone involved did really well. The technique on display was very impressive.

"As a team, we're very much looking forward to getting back out on the pitch, but until then, we'll keep the players ticking over by giving them challenges to complete."
