Man dies after house fire in East Wemyss, Fife

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended a house fire in East Wemyss, Fife this morning (1 October 2016).

Operations Control received the call at 10.33am in relation to a house fire in Sir Jimmy Shand Court.

Appliances from Methil, Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes attended. The fire burned itself out prior to the arrival of crews.

Firefighters carried out a search of the ground floor flat and discovered a deceased male inside the property.

The fire investigation unit carried out a joint investigation into the cause with colleagues from Police Scotland. The fire is not being treated as suspicious.

A Post Domestic Incident Response will be carried out in due course to offer fire prevention advice to residents living in the vicinity.
