Firefighters are battling a house fire in South Lanarkshire which broke out earlier this morning.

Appliances from Larkhall and Carluke were mobilised at 7.05am after reports of fire at detached house in Manse Brae, Dalserf.

On arrival, crews found the house well ablaze with one man outside suffering from slight smoke inhalation. Two firefighters in breathing apparatus immediately entered the building and sought to bring the fire under control with the use of a high-pressure jet hose.

An appliance from Motherwell was then sent to the scene to strengthen firefighting efforts and two main jets were used to douse the flames from outside the building.

The casualty was treated by Scottish Ambulance Service colleagues at the scene but did not attend hospital.

Crews remain at the scene of the incident and no further information is available at this time.
