Staff and pupils at Grove Academy in Dundee were evacuated to a safe area following a fire in a second floor classroom yesterday (3 December 2015).

Operations control in Dundee received a call at 10.53am to the school in Claypotts Road and appliances from Balmossie and Kingsway East were mobilised to the scene.

The fire in the roof space above a projector was partially extinguished by staff and then fully extinguished by firefighters using a co2 extinguisher.

Staff and students were evacuated to a safe area and crews ventilated the building. The school was then closed for the remainder of the day.

Thankfully no one was injured and the incident was brought under control by 11.58am.
