SFRS crews responded to M90 tanker fire at Perth

Appliances from Perth and Newburgh attended the incident at Junction 10, Craigend

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended a fire involving a tanker on the M90 at Junction 10, Craigend in Perth this morning (23 July 2015).

A call was received at 6.31am reporting a tanker on fire in the Northbound carriageway. Three appliances from Perth and one from Newburgh attended the incident.

Crews in breathing apparatus used a main jet, a hose reel jet and a dry powder extinguisher to tackle the fire. They also used a short extension ladder, thermal imaging camera to check for hot spots.

The fire was contained to the cab area and firefighters brought it under control by 7.26am. The last appliance left the scene at 8.04am.

Police Scotland were also at the scene and were diverting traffic via the Broxden roundabout. The M90 has now reopened.

Thankfully no one was injured during the incident. Bear Scotland were also at the scene and cleared debris from the roadway.
