Restaurant Fire on London Street, Edinburgh

Crews responded to a fire at The Ox restaurant on Monday morning.

ApplianceScottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) was called to a fire at ‘The Ox’ restaurant, Edinburgh at 5am on Monday morning (20 July).

Three appliances from McDonald Road fire station and one from Tollcross fire station attended the incident.

The restaurant is located within a tenement block of four floors. The fire was located in the kitchen area and is believed to have started due to an electrical fault in a fridge.

Four firefighters in breathing apparatus used two main jets to extinguish the blaze. A thermal imaging camera was used to check for fire spread.

The fire took around 15 minutes to extinguish.

Police Scotland closed London Street during the incident to allow firefighting operations to take place.

SFRS had extinguished the fire and made the area safe just after 6am. There were no casualties.
