Group Manager John MacDonald praised crews for their efforts which stopped the fire spreading throughout the town's ice climbing centre
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended a fire at the Ice Factor in Kinlochleven yesterday afternoon (29 July 2015).
The call was received at 3.05pm reporting a fire within the ice climbing centre and appliances from Kinlochleven, Fort William and Oban attended.
Crews in breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet and a main jet to extinguish the fire and managed to stop it spreading out with the sauna room area at the rear of the complex.
The sauna room itself was destroyed by fire, but crews managed to prevent the blaze reaching other areas of the complex.
The fire investigation unit have been asked to look into the cause of the fire.
Group Manager John MacDonald, who was at the scene, praised the work of the crews, saying: "I am pleased with the efforts of the crews who managed to contain the fire and prevent it spreading throughout the building.
"Due to the location of the fire and the intense heat crews faced on arrival, operating conditions were extremely arduous."
