Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) attended a serious house fire in the Bixter area of Shetland in the early hours of yesterday morning (27 April 2015).

The fire was reported at 4am yesterday and appliances from Bixter, Walls and Scalloway attended the scene.

Crews were met with a well-developed fire and firefighters in breathing apparatus used three main jets to extinguish the blaze.

A full search of the property was carried out and tragically one person was found deceased inside.

A joint investigation into the cause of the fire is now taking place between SFRS and Police Scotland.
