Firefighters came to the rescue of a Labrador dog called Maxwell after he fell 40m down a steep embankment onto a ravine near Rhodders farm , Alva on Saturday afternoon (7 March).

Operations Control Maddiston received a call at 3.40pm from the distressed owner and mobilised crews from Alloa fire station along with the technical rope rescue team from Falkirk.

Station Manager Mark Bryce said: “After assessing the situation, crews decided the safest way to get to Maxwell was to deploy the rope rescue team. Using lines and a harness firefighters made their way down the embankment and managed to lift Maxwell to safety.

“I would like to thank Firefighter Dougie Robertson and his team for their efforts in safely resolving this incident.”

Thankfully uninjured after his ordeal, Maxwell was happily reunited with his owners.
