Crews tackle scrapyard fire in Kirkcaldy

At its height eight appliances were on scene.

Firefighters were called to deal with a fire at Nobles scrap yard in Kirkcaldy last night (27 January).

Operations Control Thornton received several calls reporting the fire at 10.36pm. Appliances from Kirkcaldy, Methil, Glenrothes, Burntisland  and Dunfermline were mobilised at 10.36pm and on arrival found a rapidly developing fire, affecting mulitple cars within a vehicle scrap yard.

Due to the heavy smoke logging firefighters had to wear breathing apparatus and tackled the fire using main jets and hosereel jets. The water bowser from Larbert was also in attendance to assist with water supplies.

Firefighters left the scene by 8.35am after carrying out dampening down operations.

There will be a joint investigation into the cause of the fire with Police Scotland.
