Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) crews attended a chemical incident at a flat in Palmerston Place, Edinburgh today (29 July).

Operations Control Edinburgh received a call at 11.51am and mobilised appliances from Crewe Toll and Marionville along with the Detection Identification Monitoring (DIM) Unit from McDonald Road.

The occupier had found a chemical substance, thought to be potassium cyanide, in a sealed jar and contacted the emergency services.

SFRS have been working closely with scientific advisers and the chemical has now been safely removed from the premise.
