Incident in progress in Glasgow's Southside

Firefighters are currently in attendance at a fire in the Govan area of Glasgow’s Southside.

The incident, which is at the site of a former school on Broomloan Road, began around 2:30pm and has resulted in multiple 999 calls to the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

Five appliances from Govan, Polmadie, Maryhill and Cowcaddens are on scene. Firefighters arrived to find the two-storey building well-alight and the roof has subsequently collapsed.

Crews are conducting external firefighting operations using an aerial rescue pump and two main jets. There are no reports of injuries and Police Scotland officers are in attendance to control traffic.
