Road traffic collision in West Lothian

Crews worked closely with Scottish Ambulance Service to free the casualty.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended a serious road traffic collision in West Lothian on Friday night (13th December) at 10.30pm. The incident involved a single vehicle which had collided with a lamppost and road signage between the towns of Torphichen and Westfield.  

Crews from Bathgate and Whitburn Fire stations attended the scene and worked with colleagues from the Scottish Ambulance Service and Police Scotland to stabilise, treat and safely release the 40 year old male driver who was trapped in the vehicle.

Once released, the casualty was transported to Forth Valley hospital suffering from severe injuries. Police Scotland are carrying out an investigation into the cause of the accident.
