Tanker lorry fire in Cardenden, Fife

Publish Date:

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Operations Control Thornton received a call at 2.39pm yesterday (20th November) to a diesel tanker on fire on main street, Bowhill, Cardenden.

Crews from Lochgelly, Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy attended along with a support pump from Glenrothes.  On arrival firefighters found the main engine compartment of the tanker well alight and immediately applied foam to extinguish the fire.

The fire was caused by an electrical fault in the diesel pump.  Crews were at the scene for some considerable time using a thermal imaging camera to check for hot spots.

SEPA were also in attendance at this incident.
