SFRS respond to large fire at derelict house, Inverness

The house in the Leachkin area of the city was well ablaze when firefighters arrived

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to a fire at a derelict house, Tigh an Uilt, in the Leachkin area of Inverness in the early hours of this morning (29 November 2013).

Two appliances and a water bowser from Inverness responded to the call at around 12.20am. When crews arrived the building was well alight.

Firefighters used four main jets to tackle the fire, which they had extinguished by 1.15am. They also used thermal imaging cameras and spent until 3.15am damping down the area.

The incident is now under investigation by Police Scotland.
