Firefighters were called to a kitchen fire in the Lawton Terrace area of Dundee at around 10.33pm last night (24 October 2013).

The fire was contained within the kitchen area at the three storey block of flats.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus used one hosereel jet to extinguish the fire. The occupant of the flat had left the building prior to SFRS arrival.

As a precaution residents in neighbouring flats were evacuated for a short time as firefighters assessed the damage and checked for any remaining hot spots.

A welfare unit was sent to the scene to provide assistance to those who had to be removed from their homes. Two appliances from MacAlpine Road and the aerial rescue unit from Blackness Road also attended.

No one was injured as a result of the incident.
