Firefighters were called to reports of a car on fire on the A939 at Castle Grant bridge, near Grantown on Spey at around 8.31am this morning (15 October 2013).

The fire followed a road traffic collision between a car and a lorry at the bridge.

Firefighters used a 70mm line of hose with foam and two 45mm lines of hose with water to extinguish the fire.

The car was completely destroyed and the lorry sustained some damage, but no fire damage.

The occupants of the car were not at the scene when SFRS personnel arrived. It's understood they had already been taken to Ian Charles Hospital in Grantown for treatment.

The road was closed during the incident and Police Scotland were also in attendance.
