Around 15 firefighters tackle East Dunbartonshire incident.

Firefighters worked throughout the night to extinguish a blaze at an unoccupied pub in Bishopbriggs.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) crews from the East Dunbartonshire town and nearby Springburn in the north of Glasgow were mobilised to the Auchinairn Road incident around 11:55pm on Thursday 24 October.

Around 15 firefighters were involved in tackling the flames during the early hours of Friday, with dampening down operations continuing into the afternoon.

Group Manager Iain Goodlet, the SFRS incident commander, said: “Crews from Bishopbriggs and Springburn arrived to find a well-developed fire clearly visible in the building.

“This was a very intense fire and so it was decided – based on safety considerations – to conduct firefighting operations from outside the premises.”

Specialist SFRS fire investigation officers attended the scene to attempt to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

East Dunbartonshire Council building control officers were called-in to advise SFRS and Police Scotland commanders on the safety of the structure, which sustained severe damage throughout its interior.

There were no reports of injuries resulting from the fire.
