Update on road traffic collision in Dunbar

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Operations Control Edinburgh received a call at 10.18am today (Wednesday 18
th September) to a road traffic collision involving a bus and a car on Edinburgh Road, Belhaven area, Dunbar.
Crews were immediately mobilised from East Linton, North Berwick, Haddington, Dalkeith and Newcraighall along with the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) vehicle from Newcraighall.
On arrival crews discovered the car in the middle of the road with two casualties, one male aged 65 years and one female aged 65 years both suffering from possible chest injuries. Both were taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for further treatment.
The bus had veered into a single storey detached cottage trapping the bus driver. Crews worked hard to free the 40 year old male driver using hydraulic cutting gear. He was then taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary by ambulance for possible head and shoulder injuries.
The USAR team assessed the stability of the cottage which was unoccupied at the time.
Ambulance personnel along with local nurses from nearby Belhaven Hospital treated numerous casualties on scene. Medic One and Police Scotland were also in attendance.
Crews were involved in helping four other casualties from the scene suffering from fractures and other minor injuries. They were also taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for further checks.
All crews have now left the scene and the incident has been handed over to Police Scotland.
