Line rescue crews help man stuck on the rocks at Edinburgh Castle

Crews use line rescue equipment to assist man

Firefighters were called to Edinburgh Castle around 3.35am this morning (20th September) after a 20 year old man climbed up the rocks of the castle and became stuck.

Operations Control Edinburgh received the call from the casualty who had climbed around 40 metres up the rocks and quickly mobilised line rescue crews from Tollcross and Newcraighall fire stations to the scene. 

A line rescue team was deployed from above the casualty then firefighters lowered the casualty down onto the turntable ladder cage and brought him safely down to ground level.

The casualty sustained no injuries.
