Kilbirnie Street Memorial

Publish Date:

Sunday the 25th of August marked the 41st anniversary of the Kilbirnie Street fire which claimed the lives of seven members of the Glasgow Fire Service.

In honour of our fallen comrades, representatives of the SFRS including Chief Officer Alasdair Hay, Deputy Chief Officer Alex Clark and a host of principal officers attended a wreath laying ceremony at the Glasgow Necropolis.

This poignant occasion was also attended by Board member Kirsty Darwent and Bailie Aileen Colleran of Glasgow City Council.

At the same time, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Heritage Trust paid their respects at the Greenock Museum by laying flowers.
