Crews tackle fire of two medium sized vessels

Just before 10pm on Saturday 22 June, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service’s Fire Control in Thornton, Fife received a 999 call informing them of a fire within the harbour vicinity of St Andrews.  As a result of the call, two fire appliances from St Andrews community fire station were mobilised to the scene.

Both appliances arrived within minutes and were faced with a well-developed fire aboard two medium sized motor vessel crafts located within the harbour area.  Firefighters extinguished the blaze by using two main water jets and made the boats safe from the tide with secure lines.

There will be an investigation to establish the cause of the fire.
