One elderly woman suffers smoke inhalation but did not require hospital treatment

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service operations control Maddiston received a call just after 2.20pm this afternoon (26 April) to a small fire to a shower at Meadowbank Street, Redding, Falkirk.

Crews from Falkirk and Bo’ness were mobilised and on arrival rescued an elderly female occupant from the bungalow suffering from slight smoke inhalation.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire using a hose reel water jet.  The fire was contained to a shower unit of the en-suite of the bedroom.  Although the fire was small it caused smoke damage to the rest of the house.

The ambulance service tended to the casualty on scene but she did not require further hospital treatment.

The casualty is staying with neighbours until it is safe for her to return to her home.
