Major road traffic collision involving a car and a double decker bus

Firefighters were called to a major road traffic collision involving one car and a double decker bus at Wester Melville Farm, Lasswade Road, Loanhead, Midlothian at 7.09pm yesterday (25 April).
Crews from Liberton and Dalkeith along with a Heavy Rescue Tender from Newcraighall arrived at the scene to find paramedics were administering CPR to the female in the car.
Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to make space for the paramedics to administer medical treatment to the casualty before extricating her from the vehicle.
The Medic One team arrived on scene and removed the woman to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where she sadly she was pronounced dead.
At the time of the collision there were seven passengers on board the double decker bus.  Two of the passengers left the scene and another other four passengers plus the driver of the bus were checked over by the ambulance service.
The male bus driver was suffering from shock along with one adult woman who was also suffering from shock and pain.  One further adult female passenger, one female child age three and a two week old baby had no apparent injuries.
