Eight fire appliances tackle blaze within a large commercial storage building
At 7:56pm this evening (28 April), Scottish Fire and Rescue Services’ control staff in Thornton received a call reporting a fire within the Rossend Castle area of Burntisland in Fife. As a result of the call, a fire appliance from Burntisland Community Fire Station was mobilised to the scene.
Upon their arrival, Fire fighters were met with a well-developed fire within a large commercial storage building. The Incident Commander immediately requested additional resources, which resulted in appliances being mobilised to the scene from Kirkcaldy, Lochgelly, Dunfermline and Methil Community Fire Stations. Eight fire appliances and three specialist units are currently in attendance. 40 Fire fighters have brought the blaze under control using a number of main water jets, including one from a specialist height vehicle. The cause of the fire at this stage is unknown and there were no casualties reported.
