Open day at Ellon fire station
18 May 2016
Come along to a fun filled open day on Saturday 28 May.
Ellon fire station is opening its doors to the public for an open day on Saturday 28 May 2016.
Running from 1.15pm – 4pm, this free event welcomes the local community to enjoy a selection of emergency services vehicles, practical demonstrations and community safety advice.
Station Manager Willie Chisholm, SFRS, said: “This open day is sure to be a great free family day out that is not to be missed. Vehicles from Police Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Service and SFRS will be on display and visitors will be able to see the huge range of equipment that is carried on board each appliance which allows all of our emergency services colleagues to deal with any 999 emergency.
“Throughout the day the fire service crew will be running a series of demonstrations using pumps and ladders and hydraulic rescue equipment to give a taste of what work we do every day. We also have a variety of stalls including face painting, bouncy castle and tombola.”
While the aim of the day is to have fun, show people the inside of a fire station and pass on advice regarding home fire safety, the crew will also be fundraising for local charities and The Fire Fighters Charity who enhance the quality of life for serving and retired firefighters, fire personnel and their families.”
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service community safety staff will also be on hand to give advice about fire safety, answer questions and arrange free home fire safety visits.
Station Manager Chisholm added: “We would love to see as many people from our local community there as possible - come along and join us for a fun family day out."
