Firefighters used a ladder to rescue a woman when a fire broke out at a house in Sauchie.

The incident began at 10.18am this morning (16 May) with crews from Alloa fire station reaching the scene at Gartmorn Road within five minutes.

Station Manager Andy Bennett said: “The crew immediately moved to conduct a ladder rescue and brought the woman straight out via the first floor window whilst firefighters worked to put out the flames on the ground floor and ventilate the property.”

The woman was found to be suffering from smoke inhalation and burns to the hand. Firefighters provided treatment until the arrival of the ambulance. She was then taken to hospital for further treatment.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to remind everyone of the importance of having smoke detection and making sure that it is positioned correctly and that the detectors are checked regularly.
