Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) crew free casualty in 20 minutes

A woman whose car flipped onto its roof and landed in a ditch was cut free from the vehicle by firefighters earlier this morning.

The SFRS crew worked for 20 minutes using hydraulic cutting gear to reach the casualty who was trapped and suffering from back pain.

She was then taken by ambulance to Wishaw General Hospital in Lanarkshire for treatment.

Her car had ended up in the ditch at a field near Carland Bridge, Lanark Road in Lanark following a collision with two other vehicles around 7.20am on Wednesday, 10 February, 2016.

The occupants of the other two vehicles were uninjured and were later able to safely drive away from the scene.

Firefighters ensured the area was safe before leaving around 8am.
