Appliances from Kingussie and Aviemore attended the collision involving an HGV and a 4x4

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended two vehicle collision on the A9, three miles south of Kingussie this morning at 10.16am (23 July 2015).

Two appliances were sent to the scene, one from Kingussie and one from Aviemore. The collision involved a heavy goods vehicle and a 4x4.

When crews arrived they found two people inside the vehicle, one of whom was trapped. Using hydraulic cutting equipment they extricated a man from the vehicle and provided first aid to his female passenger.

Station Manager Ross Nixon was at the scene and said: "The crews did an excellent job and worked closely with their colleagues at the Scottish Ambulance Service to ensure the safe extrication of the casualty."
