Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) was called to respond to a road traffic collision on the A831 Cannich road, two miles from Drumnadrochit this morning at 8.07am (29 April 2015).

The incident involved an HGV which was in collision with a one and a half storey semi-detached house.

This was a two phase rescue operation for SFRS in that crews had to ensure the structural integrity of the property as well as release the driver of the HGV who was trapped within his cab.

Appliances from Drumnadrochit, Cannich, two from Inverness and the Heavy Rescue Unit from Inverness attended.

During the extrication of the male occupant firefighters worked closely with colleagues in the Scottish Ambulance Service and a trauma team which were flown in.

The man was freed by crews and placed in the care of paramedics before being taken by road ambulance to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.
