Fire at North Lanarkshire school

There are no reports of injuries following the incident in Airdrie

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) received a 999 call reporting a fire at St Domenic’s Primary School in Airdrie around 3:55pm (Thursday 26 March).

Two appliances were immediately mobilised from Coatbridge Community Fire Station and crews reached the scene to find the roof of the building on fire. The school had already been safely evacuated and there are no reports of injuries.

Firefighters were strategically positioned around the site and have been using multiple high pressure jets to douse the flames.

The fire has affected the entire building and police officers have evacuated residents of nearby homes as a precautionary measure due to the presence of smoke within the area.
