Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) was called to respond to reports of a house fire in Abban Street, Inverness at 8.38am this morning (23 February 2015).

Three appliances from Inverness were sent to the scene and crews in breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets to extinguish a small fire in a kitchen annexe off the property.

It would appear there was a small explosion at the property, the cause of which will be investigated. A male occupant sustained burn injuries and was placed in the care of paramedics before being taken to hospital for treatment.

The gas and electricity supplies to the property were isolated and representatives from SGN are currently at the scene.

Police Scotland closed Lochalsh Road as a precaution and SFRS’s Fire Investigation Unit has been requested to attend.
