Firefighters freed a woman trapped in a car following a motorway collision in Glasgow City Centre on Tuesday night (25 November).

All three emergency services responded to the incident, which occurred on the M8 between J18 Charing Cross and J19 Kingston Bridge shortly after 8pm.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) crews were mobilised from Cowcaddens and Maryhill following a call from ambulance control reporting a three-car collision and a woman trapped.

Firefighters reached the scene within four minutes to find Police Scotland officers already at the scene and managing the flow of traffic to ensure the safety of the casualty and other road users.

The SFRS crews deployed hydraulic rescue equipment and after the woman was safely released from the vehicle she was taken to the Victoria Infirmary by ambulance.
