A woman was taken to hospital after being released from a car by firefighters in East Ayrshire this afternoon (Tuesday 25 November).
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) crews from Barrhead and Stewarton were sent to the incident on the A736 at Lugton in response to a call from ambulance control received shortly before noon.
They arrived to find ambulance personnel already at the scene and immediately moved to assist by stabilising the vehicle and devising a road rescue plan to free the woman.
Working alongside the ambulance team, firefighters deployed hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof from the car and create the space needed for her to be safely lifted clear.
After being removed from the vehicle she was moved to a waiting ambulance and taken to Crosshouse Hospital near Kilmarnock.
SFRS crews remained in attendance to make the scene safe before leaving around 12:45pm.
