SFRS responded to a fire at an industrial premises near Turriff last night

Three fire appliances and two water carriers were at the scene of the scrub land fire in the area of ACE Winches


Firefighters were called to respond to reports of a scrub land fire at an industrial premises just off the A947 near Turriff yesterday evening (24 June 2014).

The call was received at around 6.18pm and crews were told there was an area of scrub timer well alight in the vicinity of ACE Winches at Towie Barclay Works.

The premises is on an unclassified road, around three miles south of Turriff and just off the main Turriff to Oldmeldrum road.

Pumps from Turriff, Aberchirder and Oldmeldrum were sent to the scene along with water carriers from Buckie and Turriff.

Crews used four main jets to tackle the fire and the water carriers to ferry water from nearby mains and a local dam. The fire was brought under control by 9.58pm and the last appliance left the scene at 11.08pm.

No one was injured and no buildings were affected by the fire.
