Firefighters continue to tackle wildfire near Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire

11 appliances are now involved in the large wildfire incident at Craigneil Hill, Rickarton Estate
Up to 70 firefighters are now involved as Scottish Fire and Rescue Service continue to tackle a major wildfire at Craigneil Hill, Rickarton Estate, near Stonehaven.
Crews are working tirelessly with fire beaters and knapsack sprayers to tackle the blaze, which is affecting an area
covering 10 hectares.
Eleven pumps are now involved in the incident as well as various support vehicles including
two forestry units, a water carrier from Stonehaven, a support appliance and Incident Command Unit from Altens and the welfare pod from Huntly.
The three latest appliances to join the incident are from Aboyne, Dyce and Central Fire Station in Aberdeen.
Incident Commander, Aberdeen LSO Area Manager Duncan Smith, said: "Our crews continue to work tirelessly to prevent further fire spread from this incident.
"We are receiving excellent support from our colleagues at Police Scotland and from the Forestry Commission who manage the neighbouring Durris Forest.
"Firefighters are working on very challenging terrain, but are doing an excellent job."
