Crews deal with tragic incident last night

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended a serious fire in the Torphichen area of West Lothian at 7.33pm last night (26th November).

Crews from Bathgate and Linlithgow responded to reports of a fire within a domestic property and arrived on scene within minutes. Six firefighters wearing Breathing Apparatus entered the property and utilised two high pressure hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.

Tragically an elderly woman has died following the fire and a joint Police and Fire Investigation will now take place to establish the cause.

An SFRS spokesperson said: "The tragic loss of life must always bring home the importance of working together to prevent fires and raise awareness of how to be safer from the risk of fire.
