Crews used hydraulic cutting gear to free a woman

Firefighters were called to assist following a two vehicle road traffic collision at the Kinveachy/Carrbridge junction of the A9 at around 11.37am yesterday morning (13 August 2013).

One appliance from Aviemore and two from Grantown on Spey attended at the scene and firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to free a woman from one of the cars.

Ross Nixon, Group Manager for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, said: "We used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof so that we could safely remove the woman from the car.

"We worked closely with our partners in the Scottish Ambulance Service and once we managed to free the woman she was taken by road ambulance to hospital."
