Woman rescued from water in Galashiels, Scottish Borders

A crew from Innerleithan assist police and ambulance

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SRFS) Operations Control Edinburgh received a call around 8.15am this morning to assist Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service with a casualty in the water at Tweedbank Farm, Galashiels in the Scottish Borders.

Crews from Innerleithan, Peebles, Galashiels and Marionville for water rescue were mobilised to the incident but only the Innerleithan crew who were first on the scene were required.

Firefighters assisted police and ambulance in removing the casualty, a 36 year old female, from the water and safely transferred her onto the helicopter.  The helicopter transported the casualty to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
